Happy New Year 2019!

Christmas 2018 was amazing, magical and just perfect in every single way. Our first Christmas after moving to Finland :) I really enjoyed just being, chilling and zoning out instead of having to spin around, rush everywhere, having to try to meet everyone, catching up on the time lost, taste all the new Finnish candy among million other things, and before you know its time to head back to Ireland again.

I love photography and due to being on the recovery from my eye operation I took it easy and spent some time taking photos and practicing my photography skills. Photography is such a lovely hobby. I think I mostly like photographing objects, like people, animals etc. So it isn't a big surprise that there's a lot of cat photos in my "portfolio" :D Our little princess Iita is especially photogenic as you can see. Some photos are also taken by my mum.

Piki is a mittelspitz boy, and has won several prizes in competitions world wide :D

He's a bit silly, but such a playful and loyal doggo. He loves the snow, winter and being outside in general.

Iita loves to fish. She is a true adventure cat,  has no fear for anything and she i.e. comes for walks in the forest with us.




Old Madame Hilma. She is a resque cat that had a rough beginning in life. Her fur is the softest I've ever seen!

Silmien Smile-laserleikkaus ja diabetes

Halusin kirjoittaa tämän tekstin, koska itse etsiessäni tietoa aiheesta en sitä juurikaan löytänyt suomeksi. Eli aihe on siis otsikonmukaisesti silmien laserleikkaus 1-tyypin diabeetikolle. Ja tietysti muillekin! Kuvailen tässä koko prosessin alusta loppuun, toivottavasti tästä on apua sinulle joka laser-operaatiota suunnittelet. :) Taustaa: Olen käyttänyt silmälaseja 9-vuotiaasta asti. Piilolasit sain 11- tai 12-vuotiaana. Käytin piilareita oikeastaan joka päivä, kunnes lukioikäisenä huomasin että silmät alkoivat kuivua tunneilla istuessa. Silloinen optikko sanoi dramaattisesti että "olet pilannut silmäsi piilolinsseillä". Aloin joka tapauksessa vähentää piilareiden käyttöä, mutta tietysti niitä piti edelleen pitää esiintyessä, ulos mennessä ym. Viime vuosina liikuntaharrastusten lisääntyessä (irlantilainen tanssi, juoksu, kuntosali ja nyttemmin kickboxing) piilareita pitikin taas alkaa käyttää lähes joka päivä. Esiintyessä tietysti edelleen, ja vieläpä raskaan meiki...

Kahden vuoden puristus

Hej och hej! Kesä on auttamatta ohi. Sen huomaa mm. siitä, että astuu ovesta ulos ja huomaa joka ikinen kerta että on laittanut ihan liian vähän vaatetta päälle ja että on jäätävän KYLMÄ! Melkein vuosikymmen ulkomailla, ja Suomen kolea syksy ja päivä päivältä kylmenevä sää unohtuvat aika tehokkaasti. Nyt olemmekin molemmat sen ongelman edessä, ettei meillä ole tarpeeksi lämpimiä vaatteita! Irlannissa pärjäsi vuoden ympäri legginseillä ja maksimissaan tarvetta oli kuoritakille tai ihan ohuelle toppatakille. Ostinkin Stadiumista juoksuun tarkoitetut lämpotrikoot, ja näistä tuli kertaheitolla ihan suosikkipöksyt. Kirjoituksen varsinainen aihe ei kuitenkaan ole säiden taivastelu, vaan nämä paljon puhumani maisterikonsertit, joista viimeinen siis oli n. kuukausi sitten Corkissa. Olen vihdoinkin saanut konsertin tallenteet kasaan, ja ajattelin jakaa niistä muutaman täällä :) Tutkintoon kuului myös Reflective Portflio :n kirjoittaminen, eli siinä piti käydä läpi kokemaansa tämän kahden ...

Stuff Finnish People Love

So I've lived about 5 months in Finland now and the time has come to reveal all the dirty secrets of the Finns! Well more like compare all the weird and funny stuff between the 2 countries. Since living abroad for so long, I entered Finland somewhat of a foreigner myself. There are so many weird little things that I had to get used to and that are so different than in Ireland. Sometimes I wonder will I actually ever adapt fully. For example shopping has proven to be challenging. If I need something other than the usual groceries, like cheap hair stuff  & make up (Penneys), phone cables (€ shop), new performing outfit (Quiz) etc, sure I would know straight away where to go in Ireland. But in Finland, not so much. The choice of products is different, there's far more shops and sooo much more selection in all the supermarkets and shops, and I actually find it overwhelming having too much choice. Like there's about least 25 different hams available just in our neares...
